The concept of knitting then felting purses and bags totally amazed and surprised me.

I was amazed that any knitter in their right mind would purposely shrink their beautiful handiwork.

Then I was surprised by the fantastic results felting produced.... I was definitely interested.....

The search was on to discover which type of wools or yarns felt well, the correct felting techniques , and how to dry and block the felted project

Along with most other knitters I’d accidentally shrunk hand-knits in the past (why is it always the expensive or intricate item that shrinks?) but I didn't know whether "shrinking and matting" was actually the same as felting. I also didn't know how much my knitted felted project was supposed to shrink....

In other words - I had a whole lot of questions ...but no usable answers....

That was then - now happily dozens, yes I do mean literally dozens of felted projects later, I realize I needn’t have worried whether I would waste the cost of my wool and the hours spent knitting. The entire knit to felt process was easier, and a whole lot more fun, than I'd anticipated.
