How to felt bags,

purses and totes

with or without a washing machine

Ask me how to felt bags or purses or totes and I’ll almost always answer “use your washing machine”.

Why ? It saves a heck of a lot of elbow grease ....

with a washing machine

without a washing machine

Here's a suggestion for those without a washing machine (perhaps you live in an apartment and use a laundromat, or shared laundry facilities and felting in communal machine isn't an option)

it's also a suggestion worth considering for anyone with the type of front loader whose door won't open until the cycle is finished..

Use a bucket and plunger and a lot of elbow grease...

Knitty.com has a really well written article about this method of felting.
