This cute felted handbag pattern, knitted then felted (fulled) in Patons Jet or approx equivalent 12 ply wool, will become a favourite.

Patons Jet has been updated - it's still an alpaca/wool blend and knits beautifully, but the newer self striping colours are gorgeous. Unfelted they are quite bold, but felt them as we have with this knitted felted handbag pattern and the stripes become beautifully muted.

This yarn is now readily available in the USA and UK as well as Australia - a quick google search will find your online supplier.

The bag below was knitted then felted. We chose to knit in the round taking advantage of the self stripes to avoid seaming and thus make it a quick easy bag to complete. The lack of seams also removed the need to line this item.

This cute little felted handbag measuring 13x25x10cms (5x9x4ins) is knitted in the round using both plain and self striping Patons Jet alpaca/wool blend.

If you�re visiting our site from a country that doesn�t stock this alpaca-wool blend, substitute any self striping feltable 12 ply wool. Simply choose one with a ball band tension of 16.5 sts to 22 rows based on 5.5mm needles. (We�ve included both metric and imperial measurements and needle sizes within the pattern.)
