Try a hat (beanie to Aussies) You're bound to know somebody who'd love a new one.
This hat beanie pattern
is simple and perfectly suited to a beginner.
We've used fairly thick yarn so it knits fast and - this hat is designed to be knitted on a pair of straight needles - meaning you won't need to master 4 or 5 needle dpns yet.

Again this hat is knitted on 2 straight needles, we've added a little colour, looks good, but is very simple to knit.
As with all our beginner knitting patterns we've included full instructions within the pattern.
Wear it with or without a pom pom (in case you don't own a pom pom maker we've added instructions within the pattern to show you how to make your own from materials you'll have around your home.)
